Abstract :Proto-Bulgarların pek çok yazılı kaynak ve arkeolojik bulgularla desteklenen Kafkasya bölgesindeki varlığına dair bugüne kadar çok şey söylendi fakat hiçbir zaman dilsel açıdan incelenmedi. Halbuki, hangi etnik gruba ait olduğu önem taşımayan herhangi bir kültürün bir yerdeki izlerini bulmada en iyi yol, bahsi geçen kültürün komşu kültürlerle olan dilsel yakınlığını belirlemektir. Bu makalenin ana konusu, genel itibariyle, Proto-Bulgarların Kafkasya`da mesken tuttukları sahaların bitişiğindeki yerli nüfusla olan dilsel bağlantıları çerçevesinde geçmektedir.
