Abstract :The role of personality is mostly ignored in political sciences and more focus is given to the events. However, there are some personality analyses of the actors who initiated those events. Personality is how we respond to our environment, which means it will affect our lives. Thus, this paper aims to show how personality affect politics. This paper will demonstrate how a personality can change the destination of a country by using the example of the Republic of Turkey. In the first part, the paper explains what personality is and its relation to leadership traits by using the Leadership Personality Traits by Margaret Hermann. She categorizes the personality traits of a leader into seven categories and a different mix of these categories creates different personalities. In the second part, her theory is applied to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the leader of the Turkish reform to demonstrate how his personality influenced the nation to transform into a democratic and modern nation. All seven categories are explained on him and how they manifested themselves through his leadership. As a result, we can see how the personality of a leader changed a country from a sultanate to a democracy, and while doing this how he established his ethics and morals in society. Keywords : Kişilik, Liderlik, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti
