Abstract :In this study, the principles and the content of urban planning are handled; the types, goals and applications of public works are explained and the related applications in Turkey are expressed. “Gecekondu”problem of Turkey, which comes out as a result of wrong and irregular public works, is analysied and a different approach about the causes of “gecekondu”problem is presented.
