Abstract :The science of geography at Marmara University in the 75lh anniversary of the republic gives hopes from the point of Turkish Geography Education. In a very short period, it has had a rapid improvement and has started 5 different master`s degree programmes. Two of them are in the Social Sciences Institute, the other two are in the Türkiyât Researches Institute. Also there is a doctor’s degree programme which is related to Social Sciences Institute. Today there are 129 student in the master`s degree geographical-Education. 54 of them are having lessons and 75 of them are preparing their final thesis. I` of the student are having a doctor’s degree programme, and 122 of them are having a master’s degree programme. With the student who has graduated from master`s degree programmes and their original research-topic at Marmara University in the ~5`h anniversary of the republic, there has been rapid improvement. The result, which has taken from the time when the master’s degree of geographical education started, up to now. is the best proof of these improvements. A t Marmara University. 65 master`s degree of geography education students has graduated between the years 1991-1998. 6 of them are doctor`s degree students and rest 59 students are master`s degree students.
