Abstract :“It is the pain that brings us together”. Approach through loss in September. Fata Morgana by Thomas Lehr This paper analyses the German novel "September Fata Morgana” by Thomas Lehr. It aims to compare the forms of pain and loss in a german family in the USA and an iraqi family during the 9/11 and the war in Iraq. It examines further the common consequences of loosing close family members with no political interests and how this loss can seed a new era of understanding and enabling the dialogue between opposing cultures. And this dialogue leads to re-evaluate the Theory „Clash of Civilisations“ by Samuel P. Huntington. Keywords / Anahtar Sözcükler: 11.
