Abstract :Aim: This study was carried out to determine the anxiety and depression levels of patients hospitalized in surgical clinics. Materials and Methods:This demographic study was carried out at Surgical Clinics of, a private university hospital between January-March 2020. The data were collected from volunteer, communicative and at theage of 18.In collecting data were used questionnaire and hospital anxiety and depression insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(HAD); scale. Results: When the patients were evaluated in general, scale scores ranged between 0-21, and the mean HAD-A subscale score was 12.9 ± 3.95, and the mean HAD-D score was 12.2 ± 3.30. In terms of anxiety, 5.6% of the patients were found to be normal, 30.6% borderline and 63.9% abnormal anxiety symptoms and findings in the study. In terms of depression, 8.3% were found to be normal, 25% borderline in terms of depression and 66.7% abnormally depressive symptoms and findings. Conclusion and Recommendations: Based on the findings, it was determined that the postoperative anxiety and depression levels were high in patients hospitalized in surgical clinics. In line with this result, it can be recommended to prepare and implement training programs for coping with anxiety and depression for patients hospitalized in surgical clinics.
