Abstract :Aim: This study was conducted to determine the views of Turkish women about male midwifery and care. Methods: Study design: A cross-sectional study, carried out between April 25th, 2021- December 30th, 2022. Data were collected with an online form prepared by the researchers in light of the literature including individual data like sociodemographic features in the first part and second views on male midwives. Results: A total of 440 women, ≥18 years, were reached with snowball sampling. Results: Main part (83%) were <40 years, 57% had birth experience, 42.2% experienced vaginal delivery, 33.9% were informed about male midwives in Türkiye, and 75.2% supported men practicing midwifery. Being informed about male midwives in Türkiye, supporting and wanting men to be midwives, also wanting a male relative to be midwife, open to get care for themselves/relative by a male midwife, open to get treatment by a male obstetrician for themselves/ a relative was significantly higher in the ≥40 age group. Not being informed about Turkish male midwifery was common in non-medical professionals and those with no birth experience (p<0.05). Conclusion: Increasing age, having birth experience, and being medical professionals seem to play a positive role in showing support and openness against male midwifery among Turkish women.
