Abstract :In this study, which deals with the dahriyya according to Islamic belief, an etymologicalanalysis of the term dahr will be discussed first. Secondly, we shall identify the Qur`anicverses and prophetic saying in which the derivatives of the word dahr occur. Thirdly wepresent views and remarks of leading kalam-scholars and overview the positions held byvarious Muslim sects over the dahriyya.
