Abstract :Aminoglikozitler bütün dünyada en yaygın olarak reçete edilen antibiyotiklerden biridir. Bu ajanların tüberküloz ve gram negatif aerobik bakteriyel enfeksiyonların tedavisinde etkinlikleri kabul edilmiştir. Aminoglikozitler kohlear ve vestibüler hücrelerin oksidatif stres vasıtasıyla apoptotik yol ile ölümüne neden olurlar. Bu ototoksisite işitme kaybı, tinnitus ve/veya vertigo olarak karşımıza çıkabilir. Aminoglikozit ototoksisitesinden korunma stratejilerinin gelişimi, ototoksisite araştırmalarının primer amacıdır. Otoprotektif tedavi demir şelatörlerinden ve antioksidan ajanlardan meydana gelir. Bu çalışmada bu ajanların aminoglikozit toksisitesini engellemede ki etkinlikleri ilgili literatür bilgileri ile değerlendirildi. Anahtar kelimeler: Ototoksisite, aminoglikozit, işitme kaybı Abstract The prevention of aminoglycoside ototoxicity Aminoglycosides are one of the most commonly prescribed antibiotics worldwide. These agents are well established for the treatment of tuberculosis and gram-negative aerobic bacterial infection. Aminoglycosides kill cochlear and vestibuler cells by activating apoptotic signalling pathways via oxidative stress. This ototoxicity classically may presents with sensorineural hearing loss, tinnitus and vertigo. The development of aminoglycoside otoprotective strategies is a primary goal in ototoxicity research. Otoprotective treatment was achieved by administration of iron chelators and antioxidant agents. The objective of this work was to assess the efficacy of these agents in prevention of aminoglycoside-induced ototoxicity. Key words: Ototoxicity, aminoglycoside, hearing loss
