Abstract :This paper chiefly examines the practicability of presidential system in Turkey by linking democracy to the system of government, namely the presidential system. To this aim, the study consists of three parts. While the first part of the paper is devoted to pointing out what presidential system is by underlining its differences from the parliamentary system, the second part disputes the JDP’s proposal of presidential system. Then, the paper concludes why presidential system is not feasible in Turkey within the context of the consolidation of democracy.
