Abstract :The present study was carried out to evaluate some agromorphological, pomological and biological properties of Ferragnes, Ferraduel, Nonpareil and Texas almond cultivars over two consecutive years. In both years, the earliest blooming cultivar was Nonpareil, while the latest blooming cultivars were Ferragnes and Ferraduel (April 8-9, 2019 and April 14-15, 2020). The flowering period of the Texas cultivar does not coincide exactly with those of the Nonpareil, Ferragnes, and Ferraduel cultivars in this ecology. The full blooming periods of the Ferragnes and Ferraduel completely overlapped. During the two-year trial, no frost damage or female organ abortion was found in any of the flowers. The highest nut weight was observed in the Ferraduel in both years (2019: 3.21; 2020: 3.28 g), while the lowest was in Nonpareil (2019: 0.978 g; 2020: 1.01 g). The Ferraduel cultivar rated top in 2020 with 1.77 g of kernel weight, whereas the Ferragnes cultivar ranked first in 2019 with 1.65 g. The Texas cultivar had the lowest kernel weight with 1.18 g. In both trial years, the Nonpareil cultivar had the highest kernel ratio (62% in 2019 and 61% in 2020), while the Ferragnes cultivar had the lowest (36% and 33%, respectively). A phase of rapid growth was observed, starting with a slow development of short duration, for all cultivars. However, growth slowed significantly from the end of June onwards, with hardly any change observed until harvest time, Phenological and agromorphological results obtained from this study will help develop cultivar recommendations for sustainable almond production.
