Abstract :This study is a bibliographic as well as autobiographical treatise on a female emeritus scientist. The goal is based on the life history and the academic research priorities (scientific work or studies within the framework of Germanic linguistics) by Prof. Dr. phil. Seyyare Duman to provide a science-oriented review. This project could be understood as an attempt to offer young scientists a repertoire, which in these areas still requires closer examination and empirical foundation and therefore needs to be explored. Because of this, the story of Duman's life is first presented step by step in this essay, followed by commenting on her scientific work. Duman has retired since November 4, 2013. But her scientific life is still at a noticeable level, as her research is still present and part of her life. From their research-related excerpts impulses and suggestions for foreign language didactic purposes can be drawn. Especially their various explanations on the communicative behavior in an institutional as well as gender-specific framework, with their foreign-language discourses, offer a variety of examples for foreign language didactics. The special potential of these considerations from the perspective of linguistic pragmatics lies in the foreign language mediation in the university context and could be enriched at any time.
