Abstract :This article examines the interdisciplinary nature of social work and its connection to ecological studies. Social work, traditionally rooted in social sciences, has limited integration with disciplines like the natural sciences. Ecology, an interdisciplinary field, bridges the natural and social sciences, addressing complex systems involving economic, social, and biophysical dimensions. The article argues for expanding social work\\\'s interdisciplinary boundaries by incorporating ecological perspectives into social work education. The article uses a theoretical analysis of interdisciplinary collaboration, drawing on literature from social work, ecology, and related fields. This article emphasizes that collaboration between social work and ecological studies enhances the profession\\\'s ability to address environmental and sustainability challenges. By integrating ecological perspectives, social work education can foster an understanding of human-environment interactions and develop the skills needed to tackle complex ecological issues. This article suggests that a stronger focus on ecological knowledge within social work curricula can empower practitioners to create more effective solutions for ecological problems. Ultimately, by prioritizing social work education’s connections to the natural sciences and encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, social workers can be better prepared to address both human and environmental needs.
