Abstract :This article aims to present a general evaluation of Sociology’s history in Turkey that has exceeded a hundred years. To do this, we first briefly discuss the ‘world legacy’, then examine the general features the Turkish sociology in its early years in the Ottoman society. We then present sociology’s adventure in the Republican period specifically discussing different academic institutions, sociologists, fields of research and trends. We conclude with a general evaluation of the present situation of sociology in Turkey.
