Abstract :The identity of a city is reflected through values that express its uniqueness. This study examines the historical and architectural fabric of Shibam, exploring components of urban identity. Shibam is known for the world’s oldest multi-story mud-brick skyscrapers, nicknamed the “Manhattan of the Desert,” and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982. With its distinctive architecture, Shibam has a strong sense of place connecting past and present. The study aims to understand its cultural and architectural uniqueness and evaluate the historical, social, and environmental elements shaping its identity. Through a literature review, the study analyzes the preservation and sustainability of the urban fabric. The findings emphasize protecting Shibam’s original structure and enhancing resilience by combining traditional construction with modern techniques. Shibam is a symbol of cultural memory and identity, offering a model for historic city sustainability and urban identity. Keywords : Kentsel Kimlik, Mekan Ruhu, Şibam Kenti
