Abstract :Radiology units contribute significantly to the carbon footprint of the healthcare sector due to high energy consumption and waste production. This review article aims to examine strategies to reduce environmental impacts by addressing the concept of sustainable radiology. Current studies on sustainable radiology in the literature were analyzed and applications for energy consumption, water use, waste management and disposal of pharmaceutical waste were evaluated. Research shows that environmental impact can be reduced by adopting energy-saving devices, waste management, recycling and water-saving systems in radiology departments. In addition, ecological damage can be minimized by controlled use and disposal of contrast agents. Adoption of sustainable practices by radiology professionals can contribute to the prevention of environmental pollution and preservation of the ecological balance of the healthcare system. In this context, it is of great importance for health policies to encourage sustainable radiology practices.
