Abstract :In this study, the effects of art therapy group practices on the loneliness and psychological well-being levels of older adults living in retirement homes were examined using qualitative and quantitative data analyses across intervention and non-intervention groups. For this reason, this study was designed as a quasi-experimental study with a pretest posttest pattern including an intervention (n=18) and non-intervention (n=13) group. 12 sessions of Art Therapy Practice Sessions were administered to the intervention group. A significant difference between the post-test loneliness and psychological well-being levels of the intervention and non-intervention groups was found. As a result, it can be said that art therapy is a significantly effective method in reducing the loneliness level of the elderly living in nursing homes and increasing their psychological well-being. In the qualitative aspect of the research, the views of the elderly on the effectiveness of art therapy practices were gathered in two categories: "Contribution” and "Art Therapy Practices”.
