Abstract :Thıs amele provtdes an overvıevv of globalısatıon, a concept whıch ıs beıng dıscussed constanıly for ıhe lası decade, ıhat has neıther a clear defınıtıon, nar defrned lımııs The elements of globalısatıon such as free competıtıon, free movement o f goods and capıtal, transfer of technologyetc are beıng analysed and the assumptıon of globalısatıon as a new phenomenon ıs beıng challenged. İn thıs context, the factors whıch speed up globalısatıon such as the developments ın the trade of goods and Services, foreıgn dırect ınvestments, transnatıonal companıes, prıvatîsatıon and deregulatıon are exanııned The eriticisin arısıng from certam non- governmental organısatıons and Southern hemısphere countrıes are maınly based on the effect of the globalısatıon process on the ever growıng gap between the developed and the developıng countrıes; together wıtlı us effects on the envıronnıent, the comparatıvely lunıted free movement of ıvorkers and the dımınıshmg role of the natıon State Here ıt ıs argued that, althoııgh globalısatıon seems to be an ınevıtable and ırreversıble process, those eritici sms must be taken ınto consıderatıon and that globalısatıon should be regulatedfor the comnıon good oftnanktnd Bu denli yaygın kullanılmasına, aktif yandaş ve daha aktif karşıtlarının varlığına rağmen, küreselleşmenin anlam ve içerik açısından, bilgili kamuoyunda bile netleştiği pek söylenemez. Küresel ekonominin günümüzdeki önemine karşın, söz konusu bilmezliği fazla yadırgamamak gerek.
