Nice antlaşması 26 Şubat 2001'de AB üye devletlerinin dışişleri bakanlan tarafindan imzalandı. Bu şekilde Amsterdam zirvesinin memnun edici olmayan sonuçlarından sonra AB'nin genişlemesi İçin gerekli koşullan yaratması beklenen bir hükümetlerarası zirve tamamlanmış oldu.
