Abstract :This work explores the theme of the poor in Serbian and Russian literature through a comparative approach to the works of Fyodor Dostoevsky and Borisav Stanković. The author considers the generic conventions and traditional, religious, ethical, and social elements of the literary picture of the world of the poor in Dostoevsky and mendicants in Stanković, and examines their intertextual relation
