Abstract :Curriculums and textbooks are among the important teaching materials. Throughout the world, textbooks try to convey certain knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to citizens. Textbooks are the most basic educational material that guides teachers. The main purpose of the social studies course is to raise a “good citizen”. In this study, 5th grade textbooks of the Islamic Republic of Türkiye and Iran were examined. In this study, which was approached with a qualitative approach, document analysis technique was used in the data collection process. Social studies textbooks in force today in both countries were discussed comparatively in terms of subject, content, education-training and evaluation process. The findings obtained were analyzed using the content analysis technique. It was concluded that Türkiye\\\'s Social Studies program, basic principles, values, skills and textbook were prepared in more detail and comprehensively than Iran. While there are 7 units and 33 lessons in the 5th grade social studies textbook in Türkiye, there are 5 units and 21 lessons in Iran. There are 7 learning areas in Türkiye and learning areas in Iran. In both countries, the order of contents has been prepared in an integrated manner. A constructivist approach has been adopted in educational situations. In the measurement and evaluation process, alternative measurement and evaluation sources are used in both countries.Keywords : Türkiye, Iranian, social studies, curriculums, textbooks
