Abstract :Agriculture is seen as an important and sensitive sector in ali över the world. in addition to this, the association betvveen agriculture and development is the core discussion in the literatüre of agricultural economics. This paper investigates how important agriculture sector and agriculture subsidies in an economy are and tries to show the links between development and agriculture. By doing so, in the first part of the paper, the relationship betvveen agriculture and development are discussed , then the subsidies are explained under the rules and implementations of WTO and the EU in the second part. Finally, the study concludes.by giving some policy implications for Turkey.
