Abstract :Strategic alliances -both domestic and international- are becoming more and more popular. Strategic alliances are formed for a variety of reasons, which include entering new markets, reducing manufacturing costs and developing and diffusing new technologies rapidly. Alliances are also used, to accelerate product introduction and overcome legal and trade barriers expeditiously. In this period of advanced technology and global markets, implementing strategies quickly, is essential. Alliances should logically be formed if they are necessary to achieve goals that any one partner acting by itself cannot achieve. Identifying the proper partner is crucial.This study presents the meaning of strategic alliances and then the importance of the alliances for Turkish companies.
