Abstract :This study focuses on the climate, topography and general framework of the region. Ancient settlements, historical events, road routes and the topography of the Iraqi Zagros that point to the Achaemenid period were evaluated within the context of historical records. These sources are the Babylonian annals and the Behistun monument of Darius I (521-519 BC). The information required was evaluated in order to illuminate the Achaemenid period in the region and to reveal the general situation. By shaping our research within the framework of important centers whose names were recorded with the help of historical texts, it was aimed to reach wider information about these places. In this context, 3 archaeological centers were examined. These were excavated by local and foreign archaeologists. Among them, studies were concentrated on those belonging to the Achaemenid period. The study was continued by comparing these samples with the Achaemenid period centers elsewhere. Keywords : Irak Zagros, Acheamenid dönemi, Büyük Zab, Küçük Zab
