Measuring the Performance of Airport Operations in Türkiye with The MPSI Based MABAC Method

Abstract :Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the air transportation performances of airports in Türkiye with the MPSI-based MABAC method, using data between 2015 and 2024. Methodology: MPSI (Modified Preference Selection Index Method) based MABAC (Multi Attributive Border Approximation Area Comparison) method was used in the study. The MPSI method was applied to determine objective criterion weights, and the MABAC method was applied to rank airports according to their performance and compare their performances. Findings: As a result of the analysis, the airport with the highest performance in the period covered by the study is Istanbul Airport. Sabiha Gökçen Airport is in second place. In third place is Ankara Esenboğa between 2015 and 2018, İzmir Adnan Menderes in 2020, and Antalya Airport in other periods. The airports with the lowest performance were Çanakkale Gökçeada Airport in 2015, 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2024, Siirt Airport in 2018, and Balıkesir Merkez Airport in 2017, 2020, 2021 and 2023. Originality: In the literature review, no study was found in which the MPSI and MABAC methods used in the current study were used together in measuring the performance of airports in Türkiye and around the world.
