Abstract :Bird droppings from Ichthyaetus melanocephalus (Mediterranean gull), collected around Seyfe Lake in Kırşehir province, were analyzed for bacterial species using the MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer. The antibiotic resistance profiles of these strains were examined via the disc diffusion method. Pediococcus acidilactici was the most prevalent lactic acid bacterium, followed by Enterococcus faecium. Other identified species included Escherichia coli, Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus cereus, Enterococcus faecalis, Brevibacillus laterosporus, Staphylococcus sciuri, and Bacillus atrophaeus. The antimicrobial susceptibility profiles of Pediococcus and Enterococcus strains were similar, with all strains resistant to ciprofloxacin. Strains KL1 and KL5 showed resistance to netilmicin and teicoplanin, respectively. Notably, E. coli and E. faecium strains were resistant to penicillin. In contrast, other species exhibited high susceptibility. Of the species, 44.4% were resistant to teicoplanin, and 22.2% were resistant to netilmicin. The results show a strong correlation between multidrug resistance and phylogenetic groups in both wildlife and human-associated bacteria.
