Abstract :The aim of this study is to analyse the natural, cultural and geographical features of the Lake Van Basin in terms of cinema and to reveal its usability as a film plateau. Elements ranging from the surrounding natural landscape to cultural heritage, from logistical advantages to aesthetic values, as well as many other factors, are discussed in the context of cinematic production. The potential of the region for both fiction and documentary productions is analysed. In this direction, by using a combination of literature review, conceptual interpretation and visual-analytical evaluation methods, the unique qualities of the Basin for the cinema industry were identified. According to the findings, the Lake Van Basin is an important location for low-cost plateau installation with favourable climatic conditions, suitable lands and endemic species such as pearl mullet. It is a valuable habitat for natural life and has the potential to become a centre of attraction for the cinema industry. In addition, the region’s proximity to culturally rich neighbouring countries such as Iran, Armenia and Azerbaijan strengthens both intercultural interaction and co-production opportunities. In the light of all these data, the Lake Van Basin stands out as a strategic location for cinema production, not only in terms of cultural representation thanks to its layered structure, but also in terms of its economic and socio-cultural value. Keywords : Van Lake Basin, Space in Cinema, Cultural Representation, Regional Development, Documentary Filmmaking
