Abstract :Introduction: Evaluating the use of sanitary pads by women with special needs during menstruation and their parents\\\' experiences is essential for understanding the needs of these individuals and their families. This study aimed to examine the views and experiences of parents regarding the use of sanitary pads by women with special needs. Method: This study used a phenomenological design, one of the qualitative research methods. The study group consisted of 10 volunteer parents with a daughter between the ages of 10 and 18 with special needs. The data were collected using a five-question semi-structured interview form developed with information obtained from the literature on the use of sanitary pads by women with special needs and the experiences of parents. The data were then interpreted using the content analysis technique. Findings: In the study, it was found that women with special needs faced problems of not being able to recognize menstruation periods, not being able to use sanitary pads, and exhibiting problem behaviors due to the physical and emotional changes they experienced during this period. Their participation in social activities was limited, and they were not supported educationally about the menstruation period. Discussion: The findings obtained from this study were discussed with the findings of other studies conducted on this subject in the literature, and it is recommended that attention should be paid to teaching the skill of using sanitary pads to help women with special needs overcome the adverse effects of menstruation periods and that future implementation studies should be conducted. Keywords : Menstrüasyon, cinsel bakım, zihinsel yetersizlik, otizm spektrum bozukluğu, nitel araştırma
