Abstract :This article provide general vegetation of Indonesia, cultivated forage crops, meadhow and pasture in Indonesia. Vegetation and plant distribution in Indonesia are classified according to geological structure, altitude and climate. It showed that the meadow and pasture areas have decreased years by years. Grain and legume forage crops are not cultivated as a main plant in the field crops and the most are used as alternative that have been cultivated in marginal areas. For these reasons, roughage deficit occurs in animal feding. To solve this problem, breeding of meadow, pasture and forage crops is needed for providing quality feed animals.
