Abstract :A variety of mathematical inequalities have been utilised to obtain approximation and bounds of the Gini mean difference.The Gini mean difference or the related index is a widely used measure of inequality in numerous areas such as in health, finance and population attributes arenas.The paper extends the Iyengar inequality to a Riemann-Stieltjes setting and obtains new results relating to the Gini mean difference.
