Abstract :In this study, a novel method for the direct conversion of bronze CuSn10 and steel S355JR chips into finished products without melting is introduced. CuSn10 bronze and S355JR steel chips were used as the constituents for the composite materials. The chips were first pressed at room temperature and were subsequently subjected to liquid phase sintering. The composite materials were produced in three different constituent fractions. After production, the composite materials were subjected to compression, three point bending and surface hardness tests in accordance with ASTM standards to compare the results with those for bulk CuSn10 bronze. The produced composite materials have reasonable mechanical properties compared to bulk CuSn10 bronze. Additionally, the results indicate that the proposed method may be considered as an alternative to conventional production methods, such as melting and extrusion.
