Abstract :‘’Maggot Debridement Therapy` insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(MDT);, known as larval therapy, is one of the traditional and complementary medicine practices with a history of application from ancient times to the present day. It is used in the treatment of chronic wounds that do not heal with conventional treatments. There are many case histories of successful treatment of stubborn wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers with MDT. Since it reduces the need for antibiotics and does not have any known significant side effects, it is an FDA approved treatment method that is now frequently used. In this review study, it is aimed to explain the development steps of MDT from past to present and its application methods and to discuss its medical importance in the light of the literature.
