Abstract :Artvin province has not been invested in by private sectors and has been neglected by the governments for years, in which migration has reached at big dimensions because of the economic difficulties. For this reason, alternative investment and employment areas to decrease migration and improve the city economy are required. At this point, the projects such as chestnut fruit production, grafted walnut seedling production, cultured mushroom production, fishery besides raw materials production have been realized by the forestry sector in Artvin, having an important role for decreasing the migration, have provided jobs and income for local people. The main objective of this study is to expose importance of forestry sector in Artvin economy and analyze social and economic situation.
