Abstract :Suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15-19 year-olds globally. Recent years suicidal thoughts and attempts have increased in adolescents. While Turkey is among the countries with a low suicide rate, the last ten-year statistics show that suicide attempts have steadily increased especially among young people. The aim of this review is to determine the factors that cause suicide, the characteristics of suicide and to identify the necessary measures to prevent suicide in the adolescent period.
