Abstract :This study examines the relationship between young adults’ preferences for trendy foods and their desire for social approval. The sample consists of 201 young adults aged 18–35 who use social media and interact with trendy foods. Participants completed a “Sociodemographic Information Form,” a “Trendy Food Perception Form,” and the “Need for Approval Scale,”. The data were analyzed using an appropiate statistical analysis software. The findings revealed that young adults have a high level of awareness of trendy food and tendency to consume them. Comparisons by sex revealed that males preferred trendy foods significantly more than females. Comparisons by age group revealed that individuals aged 28–35 consumed trendy foods significantly less frequently than those aged 18–27. Furthermore, individuals who frequently consumed trendy foods had a significantly higher desire to be liked than those who did not. Correlation analysis results indicate a significant, positive, and moderate relationship between the desire to be liked and trendy food preferences. These results suggest a relationship between individuals’ desire for acceptance in the digital age and the influence of popular culture, which may also be reflected in their food consumption choices.
