Abstract :Özet Değişik kimyasal maddeler salgılayarak damarlar ve bağ dokusu hücrelerini etkileyen mast hücreleri, aller-jik reaksiyonlar, iltihap, yara iyileşmesi gibi çeşitli fizyolojik ve patolojik olaylarda rol oynarlar. Bu çalışmada iltihapsal fibröz hiperplazi, iritasyon fibromu, peri-ferik fibrom, piyojenik granülom, hemanjiom ve peri-ferik dev hücreli reparatif granülom tanısı konmuş ağız lezyonlarnıda mast hücrelerinin yoğunluk ve loka-lizasyonları incelenmiş, bulgular kaynak bilgileriyle karşılaştırılarak tartışılmıştır. Ağız içindeki lezyonlar-da mast hücrelerinin genellikle orta yoğunlukta görüldüğü epitel altı ve bağ dokusu bölgelerinde daha fazla lokalize olduğu gözlenmiştir. Ağız lezyonlarında mast hücrelerinin çoğunlukla bağ dokusu içinde kollagen lif yapımı ile ilişkili olduğu, epitel altında görülen muko-zal tipteki mast hücrelerinin ise travmaya uğramış epi-telin beslenmesi ile ilişkili olabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır. In the present study, the amount and the localization of the mast cells in certain oral lesions, as inflammatory fibrous hyperplasia, irritation fibroma, peripheral fibroma, granuloma pyogenicum, hemangioma and peripheral giant cell granuloma were investigated. Findings were compared and discussed with reference to those of the literature. Mast cells were generally observed in mild intensity and they were localized witliin the connective tissue and subepithelial region. In oral lesions most of the mast cells were found to be related to fibrous tissue formation. Mucosal type of mast cells, which were localized in close relation to the epitlielium were tiwugfit to have a role in the nutrition of Hie traumatic epithelium. Key words: Mast cell, oral lesions.
