Abstract :ÖZET Pacemaker ta     şıyıcısı hastaların sayısı arttığından, dişhe-kimleri kullandıkları aletlerin pacemakerlerle etkileri ile ilgili bilgiye ihtiyaç duymaktadırlar. W.H. mİkromotor, Chirana aeratör ve Siemens Uİtrasonik detartaraj aletlerinin etkileri 4 firmanın VVIMO, VVICO, VVIRO ve DDDCO tipinde, bipolar ve unipolar pacemaker implante edilmiş 41 hastada araştırıldı. EKG ve karotis nabzı monitörde izlenip kağıda kaydedilirken, aletlerin uçları ağızda veya nabız jeneratörünün bulunduğu bölgede cildin üzerinde tutuldu, cilde dokunuldu, aletler sık sık açılıp kapatıldı. Pacemaker fonksiyonlar ında bir bozukluğa, deneyler öncesi ve sonrası yapılan telemetrik kontrollerde program değişikliklerine rastlanmadı. Bu aletlerin, implante edilmiş pacemakerlere etkilerinin olmadığı, cildin gerekli korumayı sağladığı sonucuna vardık.   Anahtar sözcükler: Pacemaker, aeratör, mİkromotor, ult-rasonik detartaraj aleti ABSTRACT As the numbers of patients with implanted pacemakers increase, more dentist require convincing reports on the effects of their instruments on pacemaker. Effects of a W.H. micromotor, aChirana airator and a Siemens ultrasonic air scaler were tested on 41 patients with implanted pacemaker including bipolar and unipolar, â–  WIMO, WICO, WIRO andDDDCO types of 4 manufacturers. While the ECG and carotid pulse were displayed on monitor and recorded on paper, the tips of the instruments were displayed on monitor and recorded on paper, the tips of the instruments were held in mouth or over the skin on the pulse generator, touching the skin briefly, switching the instruments on and of at the same time. No disfunction was noted in any of the pacemakers and te-lemetric recordings made before and after the tests showed no programme difference. It is concluded that such instruments have no effect on implanted pacemaker, the skin providing adequate shielding, if necessary.   Key words: pacemaker, airator, micromotor, ultrasonic air scale
