Abstract :ÖZET Bu çalışmada pin amalgam ve pin composite dolgular incelenmiştir. Büyük hacimli dördüncü sınıf kavite dolguların kolaylıkla kırılmaları ve kaviteden düşmeleri nedeniyle pinlerle daha fazia tutuculuk sağlanması son senelerde çok sıklıkla uygulanmaktadır. Pek çok çeşit pinler bu gaye ile kullanılabilirse de TMS pinleri hem iyi tutucu olmaları ve hem de kolay tatbik edilmeleri nedeniyle daha çok kullanılmaktadırlar. Pinlerin konulmasında en önemli nokta pinlerin minedentin hududuna yerleştirilmeleri ve pulpa dokusuna zarar vermemeleridir. SUMMARY In this study the pin amalgam and pin composite restorations were discussed. Because of easy breakage of a bulky class four cavity restorations it is advocated that the insertion of pins for extra support of the filling materials is essential. Many different types of intra dentinal pins may be used for this purpose but the easy handled pins are TMS pins, and has great potential in retainnig in position in dentinal tissue. The most important point of pin insertion is to place the pins into dentino-enamel juncton and to keep them away from pulp tissue for possible damage.
