Abstract :Global climate change poses serious risks to historical structures and to both urban and rural environments. Historical rural landscapes—shaped by the long-term interaction of people and nature, and encompassing cultural, agricultural, and ecological components—are increasingly vulnerable. Addressing these vulnerabilities requires identifying potential threats and formulating strategies to reduce climate-related impacts. This article adopts a theoretical perspective grounded in permaculture, which prioritizes diversity, ecological processes, and community-based organization, aligning with sustainable strategies to safeguard cultural and natural heritage. The study involved literature review, data analysis, and fieldwork to select a suitable case. Barbaros Rural Settlement in the Urla District of İzmir serves as the example, demonstrating how such an approach can be applied. Findings emphasize the ecological rehabilitation of historic structures to strengthen climate resilience, the integration of regenerative methods into agriculture, and conservation proposals to sustain natural ecosystems. Keywords : İklim değişikliği, tarihi kırsal peyzajlar, koruma, adaptasyon, permakültür
