Abstract :It is difficult to evaluate the Oghuzname tradition outside of the Islamic understanding of history, in which the ancestor’s lineage is based on the prophet. The Islamic understanding of history, on the other hand, presents an idea of a world formed on the basis of the the Torah. “Secere” texts, which have an important place in the self-perception of nations, are historical documents of the quest of Islamic societies to join the common human story by uniting a common ancestor with the lineage of the prophet. In our study, first of all, the historical background of genealogies is introduced, and the influence of Shuubiyya and Persian tradition on genealogical narratives is being evaluated. The study also presents a table for the comparison of the sources containing the family tree of Oghuz Khan. The genealogical webs that connect the Turks to the lineage of Jaffes, the son of Noah, and then Esau, the son of Isaac, and associate them with kingship should not be considered independent of the political conditions of the period. More than twenty Oghuzname texts that we have today present a design of political identity according to the period. The Book of Dede Qorqut, which proceeds with reference to the “compose Oğuzname” of the blessed person named Dede Qorqut, is a reflection of the Oghuz identity as a part of the oghuzname world.
