Abstract :Sepsis is an important clinical problem particularly in intensive care units. Although sepsis can be triggered by almost all microorganisms, risk of septic shock and mortality rate are higher in Gram negative bacteremia. In this mini review, role of tumor necrosis factor and other mediators in sepsis and new therapeutic approaches such as therapy with monoclonal antibodies have been discussed.
