Abstract :This study uses the Taguchi optimization approach to examine how laser surface texturing factors affect the production of heat tint in ST52 structural steel. When exposed to localized heating during laser processing, ST52, a high-strength carbon-manganese steel often used in structural and mechanical applications, is susceptible to oxide layer development and color fluctuation. Three important factors—pattern type, scanning area ratio, and laser power—were carefully examined using an L16 orthogonal experimental design in order to reduce heat tint and enhance surface functionality. With a contribution of 47.07%, the scanning area ratio had the biggest impact on heat tint creation, followed by pattern type (38.74%) and laser power (14.19%), according to the ANOVA results. Reduced temperature exposure and increased hydrophobicity were shown by the circular and hexagonal patterns, which showed the highest heat tint rate values. A hexagonal or circular pattern, 80% scanning area, and 80 W laser power were found to be the ideal combination of parameters, producing an ideal heat tint rate of 0.85 and an estimated S/N ratio of 1.43. The results show that accurate laser parameter control may successfully reduce thermal oxidation and enhance desired surface characteristics in ST52 steel, offering important information for cutting-edge surface engineering applications. Keywords : ST52 çelik, lazer yüzey dokulandırma, ısı tonu, Taguchi Metodu, Optimizasyon
