Abstract :It took twenty-three years for the German Democratic Republic to be recognised by the Federal Republic of Germany and by the rest of the Western bloc, which had refused such recognition for almost a quarter of a century, considering this state to be an illegal and superficial creation imposed by the Soviet occupation forces
