The Population Development of Aphids (Homoptera:Aphidoidea)on Winter and Spring Barley Varietıies in Konya Province of Turkey

Abstract :The study was conducted in Konya Province of Turkey in 1996 to observe the population development of aphids on 8 winter insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Kıral 97, Bülbül 89, Efes 3, Erginel 90, Karatay 94, Obruk 86, Tokak 157 and Yesevi 93); and 2 spring insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Bilgi 91 and Zafer 160); barley varieties. In winter barley varieties, both diversity of aphid species and population level of them were drastically lower than on the spring varieties. Totally six different aphid species [ S. avenae, D. noxia, Rhopalosiphum padi insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(L.); , R. maidis insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Fitch);, Metopolophium dirhodum insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Wlk.); ve Sipha elegans Del Guercio ] were occurred in spring barley while only Sitobion avenae insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(F.); and Diuraphis noxia insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Kurdjumov); were determined in very small number in winter barleys. From spring varieties, on Bilgi 91, the aphid population level was two times lower and population period was shorter than Zafer 160.
