Abstract :This study was conducted to determine the energy consumption of the sprinkler irrigation system irrigated with surface wa-ter resources. The study was conducted in the local farmer conditions in Konya-Çumra plain in 2004 and 2005 year irrigation season. At first the properties such as pumping unit, systems equipments, operation pressure, sprinkler’s spacing of the sprin-kler systems were investigated and determined. The results showed that sprinkler systems were planned in two different form when considered their pumping units. In study, diesel fuel and equipment manufacture energy of the sprinkler systems were determined. According to results obtained; in sprinkler irrigation systems induced diesel engine pump, direct energy consumption was 17 MJ/ha.mm, in sprinkler systems the centrifugal pumping induced by pto, this value was computed to be 21.5 MJ/ha.mm.
