Pesticide Residues in Some Tropical and Subtropical Fruit Species

Abstract :In this study, 203 pesticides’ residue levels were investigated in 8 pieces of orange, 17 pieces of mandarin, 4 pieces of lemon, 4 pieces of grapefruit, 7 pieces of banana, 5 pieces of kiwi, 6 pieces of fresh figs, 5 pieces of pomegranates, 2 pieces of gold strawberries, 2 pieces of pepino, 2 pieces of pasiflora which taken from local markets and wholesale markets in Konya City in 2010. The amounts of pesticide residue in the samples were detected with LC-MS/MS and GC-MS by taking into consideration the values of tolerance of Turkish Food Codex insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(TGK);. According the results, chlopyrifos residue, which is prohibited, was determined at 34 μg/kg in a sample of orange, 17 μg/kg in a sample of mandarin and 34 μg/kg in a sample of grapefruit that the limit value given as 10 μg/kg in Turkish Food Codex. Diazinon and Pyrimiphos residues, which are prohibited, were also found in the same grapefruit sample as 3 μg/kg and 7 μg/kg levels, respectively. Chlorpyrifos, Diazinon ve Pirimiphos ethyl residues, which are prohibited, were determined at 23 μg/kg, 2 μg/kg and 5 μg/kg levels in a sample of mandarin, respectively. Thiabendazol, which is pro-hibited, was determined at 7 μg/kg, 31 μg/kg and 31 μg/kg levels in three pieces of examined banana samples. The pesticide residue was not detected in examined kiwi, fresh figs, pomegranates, gold strawberries, pepino, pasiflora sam-ples.
