Effects of Sludge Treatments on Flowering Characteristics of Freesia spp. Under Greenhouse Conditions

Abstract :In this study effect of drinking water facilities supplied from treatment sludge on some flowering characteristics of freesia spp. growth on beds under plastic greenhouse condition. The research was conducted in 2004-2005 years. For the trial random blocks sampling design was used and the replication number was three. In these blocks, corms of Freesia spp. were planted to 10 cm on rows and 15 cm between rows. Sludge treatment was applied to the top soil of sewing beds as of 0, 30, 60, and 120 t/ha at initial vegetation term. During the research, numbers of plant germinated, numbers of flowers of each plant, number of candle of each flower, and head length were counted, measured and conducted. As a result, number of germinated plant and number of flower for each plant were found statistically insignificant, but better when compared with control. The highest average spike length of 6.70 cm and candle number 7.20 were found when the amount of sludge applied was 30 t/ha. Compared to the control, number of candle was found significant at 0.05 level.
