Effects of Boron Application on The Yield and Quality of Some Poppy (Papaver somniferum L.) Varieties – I (Yield, Yield Components and Phonological Observation)

Abstract :This research was conducted to determine the effects of different boron levels on yield and yield components of four poppy varieties during 2002-2003 growing season under Afyon ecological conditions in experiment field of Kocatepe Agricultural Research Institute. The experiment was designed according to” Split Plot on Randomized Complete Blok” with four replications, the varieties insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Ankara 94, Kocatepe 96, Afyon Kalesi 95 ve Karahisar 96); were put into place to main plots and boron doses insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(control, 0.1 kg B/da, 0.3 kg B/da, 0.9 kg B/da, 3.6 kg B/da); were put into place to sub plots, respectively. In this research, plant height, number of capsule per plant, number of plant in harvest, capsule-seed ratio, seed and capsule yield, emergence, flowering and vegetation period were terminated. As a result, the effects of different boron doses on the seed and capsule yield, number of plant in harvest period were found significant differences whereas the effects of boron doses on the number of capsule per plant, and plant height was not determinated important. According to the results of this research, the highest plant height, number of capsule per plant, number of plant in harvest period, seed and capsule yield were obtained from application of 0.1 kg B/da. It was found significant genotipic variations to response to boron applications between varieties .Karahisar 96 variety had highest seed and capsul yield.
