Determination of Genetic Diversity Among Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L. ) Populations Collected from The Konya Region Using ISSR Markers

Abstract :This study was conducted to determine the genetic diversity of the chickpea populations collected from different localities in Konya, an important region in chickpea production of Turkey. Support of breeding programs that target the development of chickpea varieties with economic value that are also appropriate to the region were also aimed. In the present study, 23 chickpea populations collected from the Konya region were used together with two commercial varieties insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Gökçe, Er 99); and genetic distance of the populations were determined via inter simple sequence repeats insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(ISSR); molecular markers system. Seeds that were collected from different localities were planted in a controlled glasshouse within pots, DNAs were isolated from young leaf samples of the seedlings using 2 x CTAB procedure and genotyping was conducted by selected ISSR primers. Data were analyzed with NTSYS-pc 2.1 package program and polymorphisms of the populations were determined as 88.23%. In the study, genetic diversity of the chickpea gene resources belonging to Konya region was determined.
