Effects of Some Hormones and Humidity Levels on Rooting of Softwood Top Cuttings of Cornelian Cherry (Cornus mas L.)

Abstract :In this study, softwood top cuttings were taken from one of the selected cornelian cherry insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(Cornus mas L.); type in early June. The softwood cuttings of the cornelian cherry’s were rooted in pumice medium under misting system after treating with 0 insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(control);, 500, 1500, 2500 ppm and 3500 ppm Indole-3-Butyric Acid insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(IBA); under 2 different humidity of 85-90 % and 95-100 %. After having the cuttings rooted, obtaining shoots were investigated. In the research conducted with cornelian cherry sooftwood cuttings taken to early june, both humidity levels for the different doses of IBA, including control group, 100 % rooting was obtained. The highest ratio of cutting callus for-mation was found to be control group insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(66.7 %); in % 85-90 humidity level. Rooting ratio was found high level in applied hormones, the lowest level was in control group insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(% 93.3); in 85-90 % humidity level, all the other hormon application rooting ability was found 100 %. Lenght of rooting area determined very high from hormone application to control group. The highest rooting area was found 3500 ppm hormone dose insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(4.667cm); in 85-90 %, the lowest level one was control group insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(0.433cm); in 95-100 % humidity level. In point of root number, hormon applications were determined more effective than control group. The highest root number was found from 3500 ppm hormone level aplication insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(56.133 number/cutting); in % 95-100 humidity level and 26.933 number/ cutting in % 85-90 humidity level. The longest root was found from 2500 ppm IBA hormon level in 85-90 %, the shortest one was found from control group insert ignore into journalissuearticles values(0.067cm); in 95-100 % humidity level. All the cuttings didn’ t show root branching.
